Decorating Your Home Office

The look and feel of your home office will depend a great deal on how you intend to use it. Will you be entertaining clients and potential customers? If so then you'll want it to have a professional and sophisticated finish that will impress visitors. Perhaps the office is just for you? Chances are you'll still want it to be a comfortable and appealing space to work in.

Paint it: A good starting point for decorating your home office is to give the room that you've chosen a fresh coat of paint. If it's a spare room then this will be a great way to signal to yourself that it's now a home office, a place for work. This will give you a blank slate and allow you to transform the room and make it work for you.

Get proper furniture: Invest in specially designed office furniture (desk, chair etc) and plan ahead for things like storage space and dedicated areas for certain tasks (photocopying and printing for example).

Light it: You don't want to be squinting and giving yourself a headache while you're trying to get your business sorted out. Make it easier on yourself and get appropriate lighting for the work you'll be doing.

Get personal: It's a home office after all so there's no harm in decorating it according to your own tastes (within reason of course!)
